Last week, in response to a chemical weapons attack on Khan Sheikhoun, Syria, American president Donald Trump ordered a cruise missile strike against the airbase responsible for the attack. The president later went on to say that, should barrel bombs continue to be used in Syria, there would be further action. What exactly the president meant by this isn’t clear, because barrel bombings have continued unabated. While it is understandable that the president may have been upset by the images of chemical attacks and barrel bombings, especially when it comes to children, he should be made aware of the fact that his very policies are partially to blame for the continuation of Syria’s war. None of what has happened lately is new, and none of it shows any sign of stopping. And Mr. President? All of the videos linked in this post have taken place in the last two weeks.
